If you're new to TA...

Welcome to TA, home of the knights!  Enrolling your student is an easy, three step process!
Questions can be directed to the registrar, Pam Smith, at psmith@rockingham.k12.va.us
or by calling 540-828-2008.

1.  Pre-enrollment

The pre-enrollment form can either be printed from this website, or if you come into the school, it can be requested from the front office staff.   This form provides the registrar, Mrs. Smith, with all the basic information to start a folder for the student and allows her to request your student's records from his/her previous school.

At the bottom of the pre-enrollment form is a list of records needed before the scheduling meeting can be set.  Parents/guardians need to provide the following:
    1.  an original birth certificate
    2.  any court or custody paperwork
    3.  Two forms of proof of residence (electric bill, water bill, lease or mortgage copy, etc.)

Each of these items will be copies for your student's file and the originals returned.  We can NOT accept a driver's license as proof of residency.  Immunization

2.  Record Collection

The second step is for all records to be compiled by the registrar and then passed to your student's counselor and any other staff involved in scheduling.     If your student's counselor is not available, one of the other counselor's will help in this process.  Although each of the counselors is assigned to a particular part of the alphabet, all three counselors are available to all students and are equally great!

3.  The Scheduling Meeting

The final step is to go over your paperwork and to meet with your counselor.  Mrs. Smith will call to set up a time for you and your student to come to TA.  You will go over your student's demographic and emergency forms.  After that, you will meet with your school counselor who will give your student his/her schedule for the year and answer any questions you may have.  Once the meeting is done, you will go to the bookkeeper to pay any school fees.
If your scheduling meeting is on a school day, your student will be able to stay for the remainder of the school day.  One of our student runners will be happy to take your student on a tour of the school, show them where they are to eat lunch, and make sure they are comfortable in knowing where their classes are.

It is a good idea to send lunch money for the first few days, even if you think you may be eligible for free and reduced lunches.  That paperwork process typically takes a few days to be approved.

Bus information will be sent to your student at some point during their first day.  The counselors always try to introduce new students to someone who rides their same bus; however, if that isn't possible, there are staff outside by the buses who make sure students get to the proper bus.

TA is a friendly school!  The students and staff are very welcoming!  There's always someone nearby to answer questions.  If your student has any questions or concerns, they're always welcome to come by the counseling office at anytime.
